Members of the the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, sometimes refered to as "mormons" are christians and as such like to have Sunday as a day of rest and worship. We, therefore, do not participate in sporting events on this day. With a majority of sporting events being held on a Sunday we find it difficult to join in local sporting events. With this in mind we are orgaining a 5k race on a Saturday for all* to participate.
The 5k road race is taking place on Saturday 10th September 2011 starting at 10.30am. If you would like to compete in the 5k race then please register. The event is open to anyone*. Registration is free**.
*Runners under 18 require parental consent. Runners under 12 require adult participation.
**Race places are limited.
Sunderland 5k
The LDS Sunderland 5k run is organised by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It is not connected to the Sunderland 5k run organised by the Sunderland Harriers.
